【摘要】:Ifthedesiredmechanicalpropertiesareasdescribedin4.1.1formaterialidentifiedasClassesP-1throughP-7,orin4.1.2formaterialidentifiedasClassesQ-1throughQ-7,thestrengthleveldesiredcanbebasedonhardnessortheequivalenttensileoryieldstrengthasshowninTables1-4.Ifthedesiredmechanicalpropertiesareassetforthin4.1.3formaterialidentifiedasClassesR-1throughR-6,thestrengthlevelisbasedonyieldstrengthasshowninTables5and6.Theuser,afterdeterminingthemechanicalpropertyrequirementsofthecriticalsection(thatcarryingthegreateststress)ofthepart,shouldselectthecompositionorcompositionsfromTables1-6thatfulfillstheserequirementsandismostsuitableforprocessing.1.1Thispracticecoverstheselectionofsteelbarsaccordingtosectionandtothemechanicalpropertiesdesiredintheparttobeproduced.Thisisnotaspecificationfortheprocurementofsteel.ApplicableprocurementspecificationsarelistedinSection.1.2Severalsteelcompositionsintendedforvarioussectionsandmechanicalpropertyrequirementsarepresentedin.Thecriteriaforplacingasteelcompositioninoneofthethreegeneralclassdesignations,ClassesP,Q,andR(describedinSection)areasfollows:1.2.1ClassesPandQshouldbecapableofdevelopingthemechanicalpropertiesshowninbyliquidquenchingfromasuitableaustenitizingtemperature,andtemperingat800F(427C)orhigher.Ahardnessindicatedbytestsmadeatalocationshownin,A,B,orC,istakenasevidencethatacompositioniscapableofmeetingotherequivalentmechanicalpropertiesshowninthetables.Normalgoodshoppracticesareassumed,withcontrolofaustenitizingandtemperingtemperatures,andmildagitationofthepartinthequenchingbath.1.2.2ClassRshouldbecapableofdevelopingthemechanicalpropertiesshowninashotrolled,bycolddrawing,orbycolddrawingwithadditionalthermaltreatment.Thelocationsforobtainingtensiontestsaredescribedin.1.3Itisnotimpliedthatthecompositionslistedinthetablesaretheonlyonessatisfactoryforacertainclassandmechanicalpropertyrequirement.Steelswithloweralloycontentsareoftensatisfactorythroughtheuseofspecialprocessingtechniques.1.4Thevaluesstatedininch-pundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.
