【摘要】:Thistestmethodprovidesameansforscreeningmaterials,products,orassemblies,forthemassloss,andignitabilitytheyexhibitunderspecifiedheatfluxexposureconditions.Asanoption,thetestmethodisalsosuitableforscreeningfortheheatreleased,byusingathermopilemethod(SeeAnnexA2).TerminologyE176,onfirestandards,statesthatfire-test-responsecharacteristicsincludeeaseofignitionandmassloss(bothmeasuredinthistestmethod),aswellasflamespread,smokegeneration,fireendurance,andtoxicpotencyofsmoke.Themasslossrateofamaterial,product,orassemblyisafire-test-responsecharacteristicthatgivesanindicationofitsburningrate.Thus,alowermasslossrateisoftenassociatedwithslowerburning.Note,however,thatmasslossisnotalwaysaresultofcombustion,andthatthismethoddoesnotassessreleaseofsmokeorcombustionproducts.Thetimetoignitionofamaterial,product,orassemblyisafire-test-responsecharacteristicthatgivesanindicationofitspropensitytoigniteattheappliedheatfluxlevelandsubsequentlytoreleaseheatandspreadflameoveritssurface.Thus,alongertimetoignitionisanindicationofalowerpropensityforthematerial,product,orassemblytobecomeinvolvedandcontributetofirespreadorgrowth;howeverthismethoddoesnotassessthesmokeorcombustionproductsreleased.Theapparatususedforthistestmethodissuitabletoassessthecriticalheatfluxforignitionofthematerials,products,orassembliestested,byassessingignitabilityatvariousheatfluxes(seeAppendixX3forguidance).Valuesdeterminedbythistestarespecifictothespecimenintheformandthicknesstestedandarenotinherentfundamentalpropertiesofthematerial,product,orassemblytested.Thus,closelyrepeatableorreproducibleexperimentalresultsarenottobeexpectedfromthistestmethodwhentestsareconductedforagivenmaterial,product,orassembly,whileintroducingvariationsinpropertiessuchasspecimenthicknessordensity.Noincidentirradianceisspecifiedinthistestmethod.Theinstrumentiscapableofgeneratingirradiancesrangingupto100kW/m2.Thechoiceofirradianceisafunctionoftheapplicationofthematerial,product,orassemblytobetested,andofthefirescenariotheuserisinvestigating.However,themethodisnotsuitableforincidentirradiancesbelow10kW/m3(see5.7.3).Themethodusedforoptionallymeasuringheatrelease,athermopile,isnotasaccurateastheconventionaloxygenconsumptioncalorimetrymethod,usedintheconecalorimeter,TestMethodE1354,initsapplicationsstandards,suchasTestMethodE1474andE1740,orinintermediatescaleoralargescalecalorimetrytestmethods,suchasTestMethodsE1623,E1537,E1590orD5537(seealsoAnnexA2).Ontheotherhandthethermopilemethodofassessingheatreleasehasbeenusedextensivelybecauseofitssimplicity,includingTestMethodE906,andotherapplicationsdiscussedinGuide
